The Myers-Briggs(MBTI) assessment is a powerfully versatile solution that has helped millions of people around the world better understand themselves and how they interact with others. It has also helped organizations of all sizes address their needs, from team building, leadership and coaching, and conflict management to career development and retention. |
Developed in the 1940s by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, the MBTI assessment was created to make Carl Jungs theory of human personality understandable and useful in everyday life. Today, the MBTI tool is the most widely used personality assessment in the world, recognized by many as the gold standard. More than 2 million assessments are administered to individuals including employees of many Fortune 500 companies annually.
We use MBTI to improve the performanceof people, teams, and organization. The tool can be used to identify skill gaps and build targeted customized development programs. |
| About the MBTI: |
| Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an instrument that indicates personality preferences.
The instrument was originally developed by mother-daughter duo Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers based on the works of Swiss Psyciatrist Carl Jung and helps to understand individual differences in human beings. Carl Jungs therory states that individual diferences between people are not random, but could be categorized into patterns. He called these patterns Types.
As people, we tend to assume that other people mind works in the same way as we do. In practice, however, we may have noticed that others perceive different things in a situation, are not interested in the same things as we are and behave in different ways than we would have. These kind of differences promote misunderstandings between people. MBTI helps to understand these patterns of differences and cope with them more constructively.
| MBTI measures patterns of differences in 4 categories. Each category has 2 opposite pairs (Extraversion (E)-Introversion (I), Sensing (S) - Intuition (I), Thinking (T) - Feeling (F) and Judging (J) - Perceiving (P) ) |
Energy Orientation: People who are energized or are drawn to the outer world of people and actvities prefer Extraversion (E); People who are drawn to the inner world of ideas and impressions prefer Introversion (I) |
Perceiving: People who take in information relating to their five senses and that which is real and tangible prefer Sensing (S); People who take in information through a sixth sense, looking at the big picture and the patterns surrounding the facts prefer Intuition (N) |
Decision Making: People who make decisions based on the logical consequences of their actions prefer Thinking (T); People who make decisions based on the values they attach to people involved and based on what is important to them or to others prefer Feeling (F) |
Orientation to Life: People who like to live their life in an orderly, planned manner prefer Judging (J); People who like to live their life in a flexibe and spontaneous manner prefer Perceiving (P) |
